Vertigo Lesson 1 - Opening Sequence

The purpose of any opening sequence is to establish a mood and visual characteristics of a film. It is also used by the director to introduce the following:

• Characters
• Locations
• Narrative / Plot
• Themes
• Visual Style
• Genre

 The opening sequence from Vertigo is no different!

Not only are we introduced to the films protagonist Scottie, but also the themes of obsession, construction of the perfect women and psychological-castration.
